418 horsepower.

Zero to 60 in 4.2 seconds.

I had to look it up, but here are the cars that the 2014 Lexus IS-F is just as quick as from zero to 60:

Few, if any of those cars are available for the IS-F's base price of $63,350, are as day-in, day-out usable as a one and only everyday driver, are as economical---the EPA fuel economy estimate for the IS-F is 16 city/23 highway---and are as reliable as a Lexus. None of them are all of that.

Put your foot down on the rightmost drilled aluminum pedal and you'll know the numbers above do not lie. It's akin to being shot out of a cannon. And the sound that comes from the exhaust when you press down is deep, throaty and menacing.

The IS-F comes with a list of standard equipment too long to list here, so we will let Lexus do it for you here

Our test car came with only two options, a navigation system that also included an upgraded 14-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound audio system and the Lexus Enform app suite ($3,410) and Intuitive Park Assist with front and rear sensors ($500). With $910 delivery, processing and handling fee, the as-tested price was $68,170.

Four years ago, Lexus' advertising quietly dropped its tagline "The Relentless Pursuit of Perfection".  They should bring it back, edited, for the IS-F as simply "Relentless Pursuit." It is a tour de force, and for those of us with a taste for sport but no stomach for the temperamental nature of many of the cars that can run with it, the IS-F's tantalizing blend of brute force and Lexus reliability is indeed perfection.
